Offline reviews and sync

You can review cards already saved on your device without a connection. Offline reviews use reveal and rate. Exercises and audio need a connection.

Start a saved review

Open Review while offline. If saved cards are available, tap Start saved review. If there are none, reconnect to refresh your review cards.

Your answers stay on the device until they sync. Finishing an offline session does not mean those answers have reached your account yet.

Sync your answers

Reconnect and open Vocapi. Review shows how many saved answers are waiting and whether syncing is in progress. If syncing fails, use Retry sync when it appears.

XP and streak progress update after your answers are accepted. The scheduler uses the time you studied each card. Activity and streak credit belong to the day the answers sync, using your account’s timezone.

For example, if you study offline before midnight and sync the following day, the scheduler keeps the original study time. The activity counts on the sync day.

A card’s next interval starts at the successful study time. If that interval has already passed when your answers sync, the card can be due again.

What does “Review needs attention” mean?

The card changed on another device before a saved answer could sync. That answer was not applied to the changed card. Dismissing the notice clears the message; it does not apply the answer.

This is different from a connection error. Retrying a connection can send pending answers, but it does not resolve a changed-card conflict.

If answers remain unsynced or you need help with a conflict, contact support. Include the message you see and whether you were studying on more than one device.
